Adele has had a rollercoaster relationship with alcohol. The multi-award winning singer has long been open about how much she has loved a drink or two over the years.

She even sings about it in her hit single “I Drink Wine” on her 2021 album, “30”. But she’s also had periods of sobriety, choosing to abstain from alcohol during particularly tumultuous times of her life.

While chatting with the crowd at one of her Las Vegas residency shows in October, she revealed she quit drinking three and half months ago, although doesn’t expand about what led her to make the change.

Previously, she took some time being sober after her divorce from Simon Konecki and has opened up about her dad’s toxic relationship with alcohol.

While we don’t know if Adele is taking a little time out from drinking or if she’s making sobriety a permanent change, she is joining a whole host of celebrities who have made the decision to go sober.

Lily Allen announced she is four years sober earlier this year, having previously opened up about her struggles with alcohol addiction and substance abuse. Tom Holland originally took part in Dry January, before deciding to continue not drinking as he felt he has more “mental clarity”, and Liam Payne chose to quit alcohol after finding it didn’t serve him anymore.

In Adele’s typically candid style, read ahead for all the times the singer has opened up about alcohol and sobriety.
